About Us
R&D Log Home Services is a locally owned Western Montana business that started in 2021 by two lifelong Montana residents Colin and Connor Rogers. Raised in the Deer Lodge valley on their parents ranch, they both became accustomed to hard work and a good work ethic. At a young age they started work in the construction field honing their knowledge in the industry. With the help of a local log home mentor they spent their summers in highschool learning the trade of log home restoration and refurbishment. After several summers, Colin and Connor relocated to the Missoula area where they started R&D Log Home Services. These two brothers, taking pride in the challenges and hard work of log home restoration, have successfully assisted log home owners with the care of their homes and established themselves as the area’s premier local log home experts.

Our Process
Every job we do is unique.
- After you contact R&D log home services, we will schedule a time to see your wood building in person to go over its specific needs.
- We will develop a customized bid. Every project is different so we will consider your home’s specific needs and work with you directly to make a plan of action that fits your schedule and budget.
- When we arrive on site to start your log home restoration, we first prepare the site for treatment. This can mean moving things away from the outside of your home, removing external fixtures that can be removed (ie. house numbers or decorations), covering and taping off windows and any fixtures that can’t be removed.
- Next we will complete the treatments as agreed upon in advance with the homeowner.
- We offer pressure washing as a standalone service or as part of preparation for treatment application.
- A full restoration usually starts by sanding or buffing to remove old paint/stain and damaged or greyed wood. At this point we may also make repairs to your logs if needed. Before staining we usually pressure wash the structure to clear any wood particles left after the sand/buff step. Once the wood is completely dry, stain and/or other treatments are applied to your logs (this may be applied in multiple coats).
- We also will make a customized plan for the chink between your logs. You may only need small areas of chink repaired, or it may be time to replace the chink on your entire house. If you are looking for a specific contrast between your logs and your chink, we are happy to offer chink painting to help you achieve your desired look.
- After your service is complete, we will discuss the project with you and help you design a long term maintenance plan to keep your building in tip top shape.
